The 17 year old is set for his first senior squad call-up. As some of you may know, he is having a tremendous season so far with Borussia Dortmund. Reyna made his full debut for Dortmund in January, coming in as a late substitute in a 5-3 victory over Augsburg.
Shortly after, he scored an astonishing curling golazo in a 3-2 defeat against Werder Bremen in the round of 16 of the DFB-Pokal. Reyna was also featured in Dortmund’s 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last 16-tie.
Reyna is the third-youngest player to ever be featured in the knockout stage of the competition. With all of that being said, we could easily just say that we are speaking too soon, he is still young, let him work for a few years and let’s see where he stands. However, BVB has a reputation for developing young talent and the sending them off to bigger clubs. The same exact situation happened to the young American, Christian Pulisic.
In recent years, the Bundesliga is receiving a lot of recognition for their league and the development for many of the USA players. Only time will tell, but we are excited to see what will happen to Reyna.
